What is Rotting Fissure in D2R?

In the latest patch 2.5 of Diablo II: Resurrected, players can now acquire the Rotting Fissure, a unique Grand Charm with special Monster Poison Immunity benefits. Simply keep it in your inventory to gain its bonus. However, it requires a level of 75 to use. With the Rotting Fissure, monster poison immunity is sundered, and their poison resistance is lowered by 75%. Additionally, some higher-level monsters may possess the Immune to X bonus, where X represents a type of damage. This makes them completely impervious to that particular type of attack, resulting in no damage being dealt.

What is Rotting Fissure Good For in D2R?

If a monster is immune to a specific type of Poison damage, using the Rotting Fissure will reduce their resistance to 95%, effectively breaking their immunity and allowing players to deal damage of that type to them. This applies even if the monster had a higher starting resistance percentage. It's important to note that Sunder only affects non-players and is applied before other resistance-reducing modifiers.

However, using the Rotting Fissure also comes with a tradeoff. While it reduces a monster's resistance, it also reduces the player's resistance to the same element, making them more vulnerable and susceptible to taking additional damage of that type.
