In this Elden Ring Straight Sword Tier List, we will show you the best quality straight sword and how to get them.

Elden Ring Best Quality Straight Swords

Elden Ring Straight Sword Tier List - Best Quality Straight Swords & How To Get Them

These are nine Straight Swords in Elden Ring that do not require any arcane, faith, or intelligence to use, just strength and dexterity. So for those of you who just want to be a knight, warrior, samurai, whatever you want to be without having all that magic and other nonsense is thrown in, then these are the straight swords for you.

Top 9 - Cane Sword

Cane sword comes with the wooden part that would normally be the scabbard on a cane sword that would keep the blade hidden. For attributes required to use this one 8 for strength and 11 for dexterity, and for scaling we have a d rating for strength and a c rating for dexterity. It's attack bar is 473, so obviously it's the worst on this list, but at plus 25, it's still a solid weapon and better than other weapons in the game. Plus if you're doing a sort of role play, it would be good for that. Like almost all of the ones on this list, it can be upgraded using Ashes of War but it starts off with the square off the special attack and the description for that is the skill starts with a horizontal sword stance slash up through enemy guards with a normal attack or run and thrust with a strong attack. So it's one of the better starting off special attacks but you're probably just going to want to put whatever your favorite ashes of war on it to make this weapon considerably better. Not the best sword in the game but it doesn't require any extra things, so if you're going for a quality build, it is usable.

How To Get (Location):  It is in a mid-game region because it's going to be up to Leyndell, Royal Capital in the Altus Plateau, so you have to have made your way through here, but once you have it'll be near the West Capital Rampart side of grace. From here you're just going to leave out this southern door, drop down these stairs immediately outside the doorway, turn around this corner and it'll be on this body here at the end of the hallway. It's pretty easy to get, you don't have to fight anyone or go anywhere hard.

Top 8 - Weathered Straight Sword

This is a standard looking sword design, it's quite a bit wider at the base and tapers off towards the tip, so it would give you the assumption that it was meant at least partially for thrusting, but also given the heft of it that it would be pretty good for slashing. Other than being really short, it looks like a pretty cool sword. As far as attributes, try to use this one with strength of 7, dexterity of 10, and attribute scaling d for strength and c for dexterity. Our attack power on this one is 5-18, so a decent step above the Cane sword. This one also has the square off special attack just on it to start with but it can be upgraded using Ashes of War, so you can kind of make it however you like.

How To Get (Location): You can just get it from commoner enemies, so this is a random drop one unfortunately so you're going to have to just keep killing enemies until one of them drops it, and the higher your arcane skill is the more likely that they'll drop it, but basically you just have to find commoners and grind them out. So the best way to find commenters is kind of these ones that are just digging along the ground  because they don't really see it coming. Commoners are not a difficult enemy type to take out, so they should be relatively easy to grind out and eventually one of them will drop a weathered straight sword.

Top 7 - Noble's Slender Sword

This sword looks a lot like a regular arming sword except it's gold all the way through and honestly it is pretty skinny which makes sense why it has the name slender, so it gives the appearance of almost a small sword. But being said, its standard look does make it look decent. As far as attributes required to use this one strength of 8 dexterity of 11, and for scaling in e rating and strength and a b rating and dexterity. For our attack power on the Noble's Slender Sword, we have 521 so just a slight increase over the weathered straight sword. This one again has the square off a special attack on it normally, but you can upgrade it using Ashes of War, so it's a pretty solid option there.

How To Get (Location): It's going to be another one that you just have to kill enemies until they drop it, the best way to do it is to go for common nobles or on Limb Graves, so the enemies that have a sword are more likely to drop it. Then the best place to go is basically just along this road from Waypoint Ruins Cellar to Agheel Lakes South, you'll find a couple wandering groups of common nobles here that have a decent chance of dropping it.

Top 6 - Short Sword

This looks a lot like a pretty standard arming sword, except the blade is incredibly short. This short sword makes pretty fun dual-wielding builds because it's it kind of acts just like a slightly longer dagger giving you slightly better reach and it does have good attack power for all of that. But appearances wise, it does look standard. As far as attributes required to use this one - eight strength and 10 dexterity attribute, scaling is d for strength and c for dexterity. Our attack power on this is 5-36, so another step above the Cane Sword. It has the kick special attack with this one, so it's just a kick which is all right for breaking guard stances, and sometimes you can knock people down like when they're using the shield. But most importantly, it can be upgraded using ashes of war, so you can put whatever you want on it/

How To Get (Location): There are a couple of different ways to get it. It is the starting equipment for the astrologer class so if you start out as an astrologer you will have this weapon. Otherwise, highway women will drop it, so you'll find a group of them in Murkwater Cave in Limgrave. And you can buy one from Nomadic Merchant in Northern Limb Grave for 600 Elden Ring Runes, pretty close to the Saintsbridge Side of Grace.

Top 5 - Warhawk's Talon

Warhawk's Talon is obviously a very fantasy or maybe even steampunk kind of sword, where it's got big old gaps in the blade, make it structurally unsound and crossguard would be wholly inadequate for blocking anything. As far as attributes cried to use this one,10 for strength and 16 for dexterity, for scaling we have a b rating for dexterity and a d rating for strength. The attack power on this one goes we have 541. This one has the spinning slash special attack which is one of the better stock special attacks for a straight sword. And most importantly, it can be upgraded using ashes of war, so you can make it whatever you want. So as far as that special attack goes, it's not bad, does decent damage and can hit multiple times on the same target or hit multiple targets all around you making it useful.

How To Get (Location): It is a drop from Bladed Talon Eagles which you can find just a whole bunch of them in Stormville Castle, they have a decently high chance of dropping it. They're probably the quickest and easiest to take out, just using either magic arranged because then you don't have to worry about trying to hit them as they attack you.

Top 4 -  Ornamental Straight Sword

This is a cool one for a couple of reasons. It does have a very unique look. One of the more significantly cool things about it is just one of them if you go into the two-handed mode you can dual wield them, it's one of the only straight swords or maybe the only straight sword that has this ability. So just owning one of them will give you the ability to dual-wield it. As far as attributes required to use this one is 10 for strength, 14 for dexterity, d scaling for strength, and b scaling for dexterity. Attack Power on the ornamental straight sword is 548, but of course, since you can dual wield it, it maybe should be considered a little bit higher since you can attack so much faster with it. This one has the golden tempering special attack and cannot be upgraded using ashes of war. So the special attack says to cross the two swords to grant their attacks holy essence while in effect strong attack performs a dual-wielding combo attack. It is a more unique special attack than most of them have, but the trade-off is obviously that you cannot switch it using different ashes of war.

How To Get (Location): They're actually dropped by the Grafted Cyan at the Chapel of Anticipation, so you can actually do this during the tutorial. If you are able to kill the grafted scion when you fight them right away at the beginning of the tutorial, they will drop the sword, so you'll have it right from the beginning. Otherwise, you can return by going there using the away gate over at the Four Belfries, that will bring you to the chapel of anticipation, and then you just go across this bridge and up through a doorway and this is where the boss fight will be.

Top 3 - Lordsowrn's Straight Sword

This one is getting into the top three best ones in the game just objectively speaking. The Lordsowrn's Straight Sword is one of the cooler-looking swords, pretty close to a realistic arming sword. The blade's a little bit thick and the proportions of the hilt to the blade are a little bit off at least, but it still does look pretty cool and does have the appearance of actually being a real arming sword. As far as attributes tried to use this one going to be balanced 10 for strength 10 for dexterity, unfortunately, the scaling isn't quite as good as a couple of the earlier ones having a d rating in both dexterity and strength. That being said our attack power for this one is significantly higher than a lot of the other ones being 555. It has the square off the special attack, but most importantly unlike the ornamental straight sword, this one can be upgraded using ashes of war.

How To Get (Location): Unfortunately again, it's going to be a random drop for the most part, so the most obvious place that you're probably going to get this one is at the gate front ruins, because it will be dropped by pretty much all of the godric soldiers, the ones who are most likely to drop the sword are going to be the ones with the brass shields.

Top 2 - Longsword

Longsword is just going to be your most stock-looking arming sword and also probably the best-looking army sword in the game. As far as attributes required to use this one, it's going to be another one with 10 for strength and 10 for dexterity, for attribute scaling it has a d dex but a c strength, so this one will scale a little bit better with strength. For the attack power on this one, we have 571 which is excellent. It has the square off the special attack so nothing surprising there but it can be upgraded using ash's divorce so you can kind of make it whatever you want.

How To Get (Location): There are two different ways to get this one - If you want to get the sword really easily from the beginning of the game considering it's the second-best overall quality straight sword in the game just start off as a vagabond and you will have it; if you didn't do that or maybe you want to have two and you're a vagabond, then the next best way to get it is to buy it from the twin maiden husks at roundtable hold.

Top 1 - Broadsword

Broadsword is better than all the magical ones because it looks unique and performs really well. It's got a very realistic design seen in quite a few historical examples, so this one is obviously a bit heavier at the base which indicates that it's going to be a real good chopping weapon. It's also tapered to a pretty fine point. As far as attributes required to use this one is 10 for dexterity, 10 for strength, and this one's going to have the same scaling as the long sword - d for dexterity and c for strength. We get a boost with this one to 584 for the attack power, so out of all of the straight swords in the game that don't have a faith intelligence or arcane requirement, this one has the highest attack power. It also has the square off the special attack and can be upgraded using ashes of war, so it is the best quality straight sword in the game!

How To Get (Location): There are also two ways to get this one - you can start off as a confessor because it's part of the starting equipment for the confessor class; or you can buy it from the nomadic merchant located at 1800 runes, so you can go to Limgrave, make your way down to the coastal cave. you will find him outside of the coastal cave over here.
