D2R 2.4 Ladder Sorceress Leveling Guide: Best Sorceress Gear, Runewords & Skills for 2.4 Build

What is the best way to level up a Sorceress in Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 and Ladder? Maxroll presents the different variants, and here is one of the solutions explained by Rhykker. This method uses the newly buffed Nova skill, which will progress into the powerful Blizzard skill.

Attributes

When you level up, how do you allocate your attribute points? For the attributes, we’ll allocate between strength, dexterity, vitality, and energy. For strength, we want to put enough to be able to equip certain key pieces of gear, but at the start, you don't have to worry about putting anything into strength. Vitality is where most of our points will go and in pretty much any end game build, more health keeps us alive, lastly, an end game build will generally never invest points into energy, but early in the game, a little bit of extra mana that energy gives can be really helpful, so you'll put your first 10 points into energy at level two and at level three, then you're gonna dump vitality for a while.

Level 1

- Strength: 10

- Dexterity: 25

- Vitality: 10

- Energy: 35

Level 12

- Strength: 25

- Dexterity: 25

- Vitality: 45

- Energy: 35

Level 75

- Strength: 47

- Dexterity: 25

- Vitality: 358

- Energy: 35

D2R 2.4 Ladder Sorceress Leveling Skill Tree & Points

Here explains what skills you should focus on for different game phases and how to allocate your skill points, the critical skills include Charged Bolt, Static Field, Nova, Blizzard, etc.

- For your skill points, you are going to put your first point into Charged Bolt in the Lightning tree, and use it as your main damage skill for the first dozen or so levels, it shoots out multiple bolts of lightning that spread out and you can hit a lot of enemies at once with it. But if you only face a single target, get up close to make sure all the projectiles hit the single enemy. Ultimately, you’ll want to invest totally 4 points into Charged Blot.

- Save your skill point to make sure you can unlock Static Field and Frost Nova when you hit level 6. Frost Nova will bring great utility by slowing enemies and Static Field is powerful as it removes 25% of the enemy’s health per hit, so the best time to use this skill is when the enemy is at max health. The most effective strategy is at the start of an engagement, to blast your enemies with Static Field about two to three times and then finish them off with charged bolt.

- Once you are at level 9, put a point into Frozen Armor, which gives you a great defensive buff, keep this skill up all the time, it increases your defense rating and freezes melee enemies that hit you. You’ll also put one point into Telekinesis, it's a prerequisite to teleport the best skill in the game, and lets you pick up utility items like potions and scrolls at range, you can also activate waypoints at range and even knock back monsters.

- Once you hit level 12, it’s time to invest into Nova, it shoots out a ring of lightning around us, this spell will be the main damage skill for the next and where several next skill points are going to go.

- At level 18, you pop a point into Teleport, this is arguably the most overpowered skill in the game, the extreme mobility that it provides can be used to engage enemies to escape and to quickly travel across the map, making sorceresses the fastest class in the game. After that one point into Teleport, go back to put points into Nova.

- Continue to invest skill points into Nova until level 24, keep the skill getting maxed and put any excess points into Static Field.

- Once you hit level 24, you can unlock Blizzard and this will become our main damage dealer all the way through Hell difficulty. It is the highest damage skill that the sorceress has. For our skill points in the Lightning tree, put one into Telekinesis, one into Teleport, and five into Static Field, for the cold tree, put one into frozen armor, then the prerequisite skills for blizzard each receive one point, including frost nova, ice bolt, ice blast, and glacial spike, then lastly you put one skill point into Blizzard, and from here until level 30 you want to keep blizzard maxed out and any excess skill points that you get put into ice blast. However, you want to have two skill points to allocate a level 30, one goes into the newly unlocked cold mastery, one into Blizzard to keep it maxed out.

- Once you hit level 30, put one point into Cold Mastery, which allows your cold skills to pierce through some enemy, and blast Blizzard until you max out it. Around level 43, finish max out Ice Blast, start to branch out into the Fire tree. At level 67, put one point into Fire Bolt, one to Fire Ball, Inferno Blaze, and Fire Wall, these are all prerequisites because we're going for Meteor, which will be our backup damage dealer, once you put the one point into Meteor, you're gonna put one point into fire mastery which increases the damage done by all of our fire spells. Then put all of your remaining skill points into Meteor until that is maxed and then once that's maxed you put all your remaining skill points into Cold Mastery, until you're ready to move on to a full end game build and this is the setup that'll get you all the way through hell difficulty with enough respects left over to.

D2R 2.4 Ladder Sorceress Best Gear, Runes, Runewords & items

The selection of D2R ladder items and gear is related to your level and skills, some of them can be purchased in the game and some requires much effort to farm specific areas.

- You can go with a short staff that grants you +2 or +3 to Charged Bolt, if you have made a large number of D2R gold, check if Akara is selling any of that. When you continue to level, you are gonna put points into Static Field until you reach 4. You’ll also want to farm some runes, which can be inserted into certain items in a specific order to create powerful Diablo 2 Resurrected runewords that'll give you tremendous buffs. Try to obtain Tal and Eth runes for progressing or two Tir runes that give you better mana.

- When you get to level 2 Nova, you’ll be looking for some weapon, such as a wand that grants a faster cast rate so that we can blast out those novas faster and teleport faster, once we unlock teleport, rings, and amulets that grant us faster cast rate will be ideal.

- Once you hit level 17, spend the next attribute points you'll get over the following levels into strength until you reach 47 strength. by the time we hit level 17, we're going to make Stealth runeword, which grants us faster run/walk speed, faster cast rate, faster hit recovery, and some mana regeneration, you can keep this armor all the way up to level 75 if you don't find something significantly better.

- Once you reach level 21, you’ll be able to build the Ancients’ Pledge shield runeword, but only available if you have completed the Act 5 second quest. This item provides a huge amount of resistance, 43% cold resist, 48% lightning resist, 48% fire, and 48% poison resist. You will take this shield all the way to Hell difficulty, the higher the difficulty, the more important resists become.

- The runeword Spirit is what we need, it grants us a +2 to all skills, +35% faster cast rate, a bunch of mana and faster hit recovery. You can find the base for this runeword in the secret cow level, look for a non-socketed non-magic crystal sword and then we're going to use the Act 5 quest 1 reward to add sockets to that crystal sword and it'll add the desired four sockets. Make sure that the crystal sword you get is from the secret cow level.

- For the Sorceress gear, once you've unlocked Nightmare, you can start shopping for gloves, boots, and belts that grant resistances, keeping your resistances around 75 becomes increasingly important in the higher difficulties. You’ll want to reach level 26 to be able to buy large potions from Akara, once you reach the Countess in Nightmare difficulty, you’ll want to farm her until you get the Sol, Tal, Thul, Amn, and two Ort runes.

- At level 27, you are going to get the Lore runeword using the Ort and Sol runes in a two-socket helm, this should be easier to get than the Crystal Sword for Spirit.

For the mercenary, you want to use an Act 2 mercenary with the might aura, which boosts his own damage and then you're gonna static field enemies down as much as you can and let the mercenary finish them off.
