D2R 2.4 New Level 85 Areas List - Immunities & Changes in Diablo 2 Resurrected New Level 85 Zones

Several areas of Diablo 2 Resurrected move to level 85 in patch 2.4. The goal is to allow players to diversify the gameplay and no longer systematically play in one or two areas to find the rarest items in the game, such as Tyrael's Might. In this Diablo 2 Resurrected guide, we will not only share the full list of the new D2R New Level 85 Areas but also view the immunities in each zone, as well as break down our gameplay changes from them!

Some L85 areas are clearly more interesting than others. The Arachnid Lair, if it is close to the Waypoint, is a good place to farm high Diablo 2 Runes. The Swampy Pit, with its three levels, can also be potentially cool. Ditto for the Icy Cellar or the Drifter Cavern which are places where some players like to farm naturally.

Conversely, the Underground Passage seems uninteresting, while the areas of the Lower City and the red portals (Abaddon, Pit of Acheron/Infernal Pit) will put off many people because they are more complicated places to manage, especially with immunities.

The table above shows which monsters can spawn and be immune to certain elements. This is not systematic and you may very well not have any monsters immune to Fire in the L2 Underpass. When creating a game, the game indeed selects monsters from a list of eligible monsters for the area. So you can end up with an area with few immunities, and then end up with an Abandoned Sanctuary where all the monsters have immunities.

What is New With The New Level 85 Areas?

What you need to know is that this diversity of level 85 areas is very enjoyable, but won't change your life either. Let's analyze all this.

What Changes You Could Get in New Level 85 Areas:

More 85 areas means you'll have more places to find TC 87 items (see our Treasure Class page). This is a category of the rarest D2 items that drop exclusively in level 85 areas.
This concerns, for example, the Windforce bow, the Tyrael's armor, the Death's Fathom weapon, the Crown of Ages helmet or even the Griffon's Eye diadem and the Immortal King's Soul Cage set piece. However, among the thirty items concerned, very few are actually used on high level builds.
If you're looking for the rarest items in the game (we didn't say the most powerful), then that's good news. You will be able to have fun elsewhere and thus reduce the feeling of weariness that can take hold of you when you constantly play in the same place.
In addition, going to level 85 zones means that the areas in question will be more difficult. The monsters will gain in power and will need to be more wary. You will find below a table of immunities for the new L85 zones.
Finally, note that while some areas "simply" go from L84 to L85, others take several levels, which also gives them access to TC 84. Ditto for some unique rings that will be accessible where they don't. weren't before.

What it Doesn't Change with New Level 85 Areas:

If your goal is to find rare runes or certain specific D2R ladder items that are not part of TC 87, then the new level 85 areas won't change anything for you. Indeed, the farming of runes usually sends players to Travincal, Lower Kurast or Chaos Sanctuary, places that are not affected by these changes.
If you are dying to find a Stone of Jordan, no need to farm the Infernal Pit, you will not have more chances to recover it by going there, especially since some L85 areas will be very difficult depending on your build.
