Diablo 2 Resurrected Dream Bear Sorceress Build Guide - Stats, Skill Setting, Gears, Mercenary Equipment for Bear Thunderstorm Melee Sorc
12/24/2021 6:12:33 PM

The creative Dream Bear Sorceress in Diablo 2 Resurrected is an insanely powerful melee Sorc build to slay the strongest of bosses in Uber Tristram, so it has become the most requested sorceress in the game! Here we sort out a guide of Beast Bear Sorceress Build, which features the stats, skill point set, character gears, mercenary equipment, and more tips.

Diablo 2 Resurrected Dream Beast Bear Sorceress Build Guide (D2R Powerful Melee Sorc)

What do you get when you combine one of the strongest melee builds in Diablo 2 with a melee request, you get bear blade Stormbringer? At least, if you like cheesy naming conventions, the reality is the bear sorceress is one of the most requested Sorceress builds and one of the most common meme requests is a thunderstorm sorceress in Diablo 2 Resurrected.

Dream Bear Melee Sorceress Build Features & Advantages

Because each character has two sets of weapons, shields, and equipment slots, using the Beast rune Sorceress on the off-hand weapon can transform into a bear, and still enchant himself when switching to the forehand weapon and equipment to attack, which invisibly increases the attack. Speed, damage, defense, blood volume. Through the use of Dream rune words on the helmet and shield, to further obtain greater Lightning Damage.

So by the powers combined, we have a bear sorceress with a joy buzzer. The more commonly played bear sorcerers currently lean far more into the enchant skill to allow for more double dipping in that regard and also because it gives you a massive amount of attack rating. But for this build, we're going to lean more into the lightning aspect since well we're going to be using thunderstorm after we get all of our other skills squared away.

For the most part, though, the gear between them is similar mostly only marked by a difference in how you choose your plus skills with enchant favoring plus fire skills, here we're going to be favoring plus all skills when possible and plus lightning when the choice has to be made for example with the grand charms.

Dream Bear Sorceress Stat Points and Attributes

Strength: Enough For Gear

Dexterity: Enough For Gear

Vitality: The Rest

Energy: None

The bear sorceress follows common wisdom of enough strength and dexterity for gear and the rest into vitality, though in this case, we would explicitly warn against going too high on dexterity, it will be better to get your attack rating from other sorcerers since you do not want the exceptionally high block rate due to really bad block frames on the werebear, and not a lot of ways to easily improve it while you're using the core gear of this build.

Fire Spell Skill Point Setting

D2R Dream Bear Sorceress Skill Point Setting - Fire Spell Skills

The skills of this build are thankfully super simple since this is a dream and enchant sorceress, we get to focus on getting three core skills squared away, and everything else is just a bonus:

  • - Get enchant to boost our attack rating, we want that at max level for that purpose.

  • - If you want to make its damage a bit higher, you can invest in warmth which does a bit on the fire damage side of things.

  • - But on top of all that, grab your masteries, specifically fire mastery for double-dipping on enchant and also lightning mastery for double-dipping on the holy shock aura we'll be getting from the equipment.

  • - After that for this one, putting into thunderstorm because people keep asking for it on a build.

Beast Bear Sorceress Best Gears

Helmet: Dream Diadem

Sheild: Dream Troll Nest

Dream

16-Io31-Jah21-Pul
10% Chance To Cast Level 15 Confuse When Struck
Level 15 Holy Shock Aura When Equipped
+20-30% Faster Hit Recovery (varies)
+30% Enhanced Defense
+150-220 Defense (varies)
+10 To Vitality
Increase Maximum Life 5% (Helms Only)
+50 To Life (Shields Only)
+0.625-61.875 To Mana (Based On Character Level)
All Resistances +5-20 (varies)
12-25% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (varies)

The most obvious items we'll be using are going to be the dream helmet and dream shield for the Holy Shock aura and while this build is possible without him it requires leaning a lot more into physical and fire damage. The dual dream setup is so strong, it allows the Sorceress to gain access to a level 30 Holy Shock aura because they stack on top of each other, which lightning mastery provides a massive boost to giving you insane lightning damage on each of your attacks. Needless to say, most of the other bonuses from the dream rune words are pretty nice as well, since it shores up your resists and hits recovery speeds fairly well.

Weapon: Gemmed Phase Blade

There are a few choices for the weapon, but it pretty much comes down to your tolerance for attack speeds. For example, an oath would get you decent physical damage and add a nine frame attack if you put it in a scourge; a grief phase blade will get you similar speeds with a perfect one getting you an 8 frame attack. But here we go with a Kodiak blade or a bear blade depending on what you want to call it. These are basic phase blades with six sockets that are geared towards maximizing damage output through speed rather than potency such as the Gemmed Phase Blade. Gemmed Phase Blade only reaches six frames per attack on the sorceress, reaches four frames per hunker on the druid. If you instead go for four shales and one jewel of fervor leaving one slot for whatever, you'd reach 95 increased attack speed and would five frames per attack, which puts you delivering about on par with a zealot.

Armor: Chains of Honor Archon Plate

Chains of Honor

30-Ber14-Dol24-Ist22-Um
+2 To All Skills
+200% Damage To Demons
+100% Damage To Undead
8% Life Stolen Per Hit
+70% Enhanced Defense
+20 To Strength
Replenish Life +7
All Resistances +65
Damage Reduced By 8%
25% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

In terms of armor, since we can't teleport in the bear form it, pretty much came down to a few choices. We ended up taking Chains of Honor. Since we don't have a high base physical damage to modify, so fortitude would be bad. We don't need a ton of strength for gear and get a decent life boost from the shape change, so enigma would only be so useful. So we go with resistance in the form of Chains of Honor, it just happens to come with a bunch of other nice perks as well, including plus skills.

Gloves: Magefist Light Gauntlets

Magefist

MagefistDefense: 24-25 (varies)(Base Defense: 9-11)
Required Level: 23
Required Strength: 45
Durability: 18
+20-30% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+10 Defense
+1 To Fire Skills
+20% Faster Cast Rate
Regenerate Mana 25%
Adds 1-6 Fire Damage
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.09 or later)

We have to adapt our gear a slight bit different from other melee builds since some things don't function as well in this form. So instead of off weapon attack speed like a normal melee character, we're opting for damage and defense boosts and even skill boost, this is reflected with our glove choice with Magefists to give us a further boost on enchanting helping our damage and attack rating, since the normal attack speed gloves would have pretty much no effect, even things like laying of hands wouldn't really do much for us.

Amulet: Grim Eye Amulet

Similar to gloves, we go with skill and resist amulet. While high lords would be good if we were picking a bit more physical damage, the plus skills are going to aid our elemental damage a bit more. So a rare or crafted amulet can be fairly solid or even Amara's in this case for better resistance and longer shape-shift.

Boots: Gore Rider War Boots

Gore Rider

Gore RiderDefense: 140-162 (varies)(Base Defense: 43-53)
Required Level: 47
Required Strength: 94
Durability: 34
Assassin Kick Damage: 39-80
+160-200% Enhanced Defense (varies)
30% Faster Run/Walk
10% Chance Of Open Wounds
15% Chance Of Crushing Blow
15% Deadly Strike
Requirements -25%
+20 Maximum Stamina
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.09 or later)

Pick Gore Rider for crushing blow bleed and movement raven.

Rings: Raven Frost, Doom Loop

Raven Frost

Raven FrostRequired Level: 45
+150-250 To Attack Rating (varies)
Adds 15-45 Cold Damage, 4 sec. Duration (Normal)
Cannot Be Frozen
+15-20 To Dexterity (varies)
+40 To Mana
Cold Absorb 20%
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.09 or later)

Raven Frost cannot be frozen, and whatever you want for the other ring, we just dropped in a dual leech resist ring in here, but Wisp Projector or Dwarf Star for Absorb would be very solid choices since leech does very little for us here, this ring does fine for us because the attack rating is exceptionally useful though.

Belt: Thundergod's Vigor

Thundergod's Vigor

Thundergod's VigorDefense: 137-159 (varies)(Base Defense: 41-52)
Required Level: 47
Required Strength: 110
Durability: 24
16 Boxes
+160-200% Enhanced Defense (varies)
Adds 1-50 Lightning Damage
5% Chance To Cast Level 7 Fist Of The Heavens When Struck
+20 Lightning Absorb
10% To Maximum Lightning Resist
+20 To Strength
+20 To Vitality
+3 To Lightning Fury (Amazon Only)
+3 To Lightning Strike (Amazon Only)
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.09 or later)

Thundergod's Vigor is a great belt, gives a lot more resilience against lightning damage from sources like gloams and beetles. And also we boost the lightning damage on it too, so that works out there fairly well.

Weapon Swap: Beast Berserker Axe

Beast

30-Ber17-Lum23-Mal3-Tir22-Um
Level 9 Fanaticism Aura When Equipped
+40% Increased Attack Speed
+240-270% Enhanced Damage (varies)
20% Chance of Crushing Blow
25% Chance of Open Wounds
+3 To Werebear
+3 To Lycanthropy
Prevent Monster Heal
+25-40 To Strength (varies)
+10 To Energy
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
Level 13 Summon Grizzly (5 Charges)

Obviously and mostly as a footnote oddly enough because even though it's like main thing to build, we need a way to transform into the bear and that is simply achieved with a beast on the weapon swap, which we also put with a spirit for the global plus skills. We won't be using it for combat, just for transformation and casting our spells, but it does help out a great deal and is integral for giving us the high attack speed that we want for this build.

Mercenary Gears

Weapon: Infinity Runeword

Infinity

30-Ber24-Ist30-Ber23-Mal
50% Chance To Cast Level 20 Chain Lightning When You Kill An Enemy
Level 12 Conviction Aura When Equipped
+35% Faster Run/Walk
+255-325% Enhanced Damage (varies)
-(45-55)% To Enemy Lightning Resistance (varies)
40% Chance of Crushing Blow
Prevent Monster Heal
0.5-49.5 To Vitality (Based on Character Level)
30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Level 21 Cyclone Armor (30 Charges)

Since we're going mostly elemental damage, we end up favoring using Infinity on him to allow his damage to push up further thanks to the conviction aura. It's not entirely necessary since you're also doing a reasonable amount of fire damage, and combining it with a pinch of physical damage with like crushing blows and stuff. You can actually even go even heavier into physical damage but it is a huge uptick in our elemental damage.

The ideal mercenary for this would be a holy freeze to slow enemies down while you're meleeing them, giving you a greater advantage. You might consider actually using a mite aura if you are using one of the slower but heavier physical damage weapon options.

Overall, this may be a somewhat familiar build for veterans and may seem weird and outlandish to new players. When in reality, it falls in the category of a solid elemental melee character something that Diablo 2 Resurrected has in very slim supply and is a lot of fun to play with if you can get a hold of the rather expensive gear.
