Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 Unbending Will Runeword Attributes & Pros | D2R Ladder Runewords Guide
1/18/2022 12:08:31 PM

The 2.4 patch of D2R will not only roll out the exciting ladder season into Diablo 2 Resurrected but also brings brand new D2R Ladder rune words in the game. In this guide, now follow us to check out all details about the new Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder-Only Runewords - Unbending Will!

Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 Ladder Runeword - Unbending Will Guide

Unbending Will is relatively cheap with Fal, Io, Ith, Eld, El, and Hel rune. For a melee rune word, it can only be ruled in swords and grants you 330 enhanced damage that is very solid.

D2R 2.4 Ladder Unbending Will Runeword

If you're going to compare it to another melee runewords sort of like a Sliding Scale of budget to kind of mid to late end game and then your final end game setup. Black and Steel are kind of like your introductory melee rune world, Oath and Death are kinds of arguably just touching on an end game setup, and then Grief the Unanimous best melee rune word is your top end game setup, also honorable mention goes to Breath of Dying although it's not used very often. We would kind of place Unbending Will somewhere in between Oath and Black, as it boosts up 330 ED.

Standout Stats (Pros) Of Unbending Will Runeword

It does not have the indestructible mod, so you can't roll an ethereal weapon, but there are some other interesting stats worth talking about. So let's break down the main stats on this runeword:

330% Enhanced Damage

This is the real big standout role or attribute on this rune word is the 330% Enhanced Damage. It will be an interesting choice to use on an ACT 5 mercenary, they have hinted at buffing those mercs, so if you can find an ethereal colossus blade, get six open sockets and roll this rune word 330 ED in an F base, is some pretty solid damage.

18% Chance to Cast Level 18 Taunt on Striking

For those that are typical with your standard bavarian setup, for the most part, the warcry skill tree is usually one point into command, 100 points into Shout, Maxine battle orders, and then on some occasions you will put points into warcry to stun mobs or maybe Battle Cry. Skill taunt actually actively attracts monsters towards you, so they attack you but at the same time, it effectively reduces their percent damage as well as their percent attack rating. So that's a very interesting stat to add to a chance to cast on striking runeword and with 18 chance it is going to be procking very frequently, so a lot of monsters are going to be attacking you but they will have reduced attack rating and they will also have lower percent damage output.

+3 To Combat Skills

Considering if you were to potentially dual wield these on a budget-friendly barbarian if you invest one or a point to unlock Frenzy, these two runewords are going to give you a total of plus seven to frenzy, so a lot of extra enhanced damage for only a falrun invested.

+20% Increased Attack Speed

It does also have 20 increase attack speed, so we think this is going to cater to frenzy barbs, leap-type barbs, concentrate, or berserk. And we don't think it's ideal for candidate or whirlwind because breakpoints on whirlwind are only determined from the IAS on the weapon, 20% is not enough to reach the max whirlwind breakpoint, so it won't be too good for that one barbarian. But we do think for all the other specs with the exception of throw bar, they will be a pretty solid choice for a kind of mid-game budget setup.

+9 To Maximum Damage, +50 To Attack Rating & Other Stats

Other additional stats worth mentioning here are to help a melee character, +9 To Maximum Damage, +50 To Attack Rating, +75% Damage to Undead always important for melee builds. Every melee character needs a form of life leech and mana leech, so you have it on the weapon here to prevent monster healing it, doesn't work on every monster but it will help you.

Cons of Unbending Will Rune Word

As it is a six open socket rune word, the cons to that are it reduces the overall number of choices that you can use to roll this runeword in, because it is swords only. For example, a colossus blade can roll a maximum of six open sockets, while a colossus sword can't and only rolls a maximum of five open sockets. So this runword will not work in swords you're going to be restricted to using weapon bases like the colossus blade. But the plus side is that it's very easy to get six open sockets in a runeword base or weapon base that rolls a maximum of six open sockets, if you go to Larzuk, you can get a guaranteed six open sockets every time.

Overall View of The New D2R 2.4 Runeword

It's well thought out runeword for placing that sort of a little bit past early game, but trying to bridge the gap to the endgame, so it's going to help melee builds a bit on play-throughs which is super important the chance to cast taunt on striking, especially potentially on an ACT 5 mercenary. It uses Fal, Io, Ith, Eld, El and Hel rune, so the important thing about this is all those runes are incredibly cheap, and it goes into six open sockets but you get three hundred and thirty percent enhanced damage every single time, that's pretty high for only these low of runes.
